Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The initial submission file is prepared in LaTeX as a PDF file.
  • Articles must include an abstract written to be non-technical and comprehensible for a physics generalist.
  • The text is formatted in LaTeX and single columned, single-spaced; uses a 10 or 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Please see Author Guidelines below.
  • An optional cover letter provides an excellent opportunity to provide an overview of the importance of the work and why it should be considered for publication.
  • Underlying data used in any analysis should be hosted in a suitable online repository accessible by reviewers and readers and outlined in a Data Availability statement.

Author Guidelines

Only one submitted research paper per Author can be considered by LJP for publication at any time. 

LJP articles are published using LaTeX (see https://ctan.org/) which provides high quality typesetting. The initial submitted manuscript should prepared in LaTeX in 10 or 12pt font, single column per page, single spaced and be no longer than 16 pages. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Word and other formats will not be accepted.

Underlying structured data used in any analysis should be hosted in a suitable online repository accessible by reviewers and readers. The accession numbers and links should be provided in the manuscript and outlined in a Data Availability statement.  If full access to data is required for initial peer review, authors must provide it. Full reader access is required at final publication.

Once an article is accepted for publication the author must then prepare a final version in LaTeX of their paper following LJP’s LateX template which will be sent to the Author along with other formatting requirements. Authors should send all final LateX files in a .zip file to the Editor.

Articles

All manuscripts are considered under the understanding that they are original, previously unpublished works, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Articles must include an abstract written to be non-technical and comprehensible for a physics generalist. This overview must communicate the relevance and implications of the research and must be confined to around 200 words. 

Research articles should follow a standard structure: 1. Introduction, 2. The Comprehensive Theoretical Basis and/or the Proposed Method/Algorithm (optional), 3. Method, 4. Results and Discussion, and 5. Conclusion. The structure is well-known as IMRaD style.
